Chris Watson
Interesting article this week in the Gaurdian on location sound recordist and founding member of Caberet Voltaire Chris Watson. Watson has always been on the vangaurd of the use of feild recordings in music and as he puts it in the interveiw "the musical possibilties of tape recorders".

Make-Out Music
For the first installment of the Percepts podcast we present a hour long Valentine's Day
mix of the most maligned sub genre of Jamaican music, Lover's Rock.
Hated by many, all of the greats have tried their hand at this form.
This mix is organized thematically, starting with songs about
lonliness and longing, moving on to songs celebrating love and
romance, and finally finishing with several powerfull breakup songs.
"Stranger", the last cut on this mix, is one of the most affecting
breakup songs every written. LoveJoys have an uncanny ability to
capture the peculiar and horrifying lonliness one only finds in a
shared bed. Another standout cut, and personal favorite of mine, is
"Rocky Music" by Struggle(don't know who these guys were, its an old
Jammy's 7", if anyone knows anything about them let me know.) a rare
and beautiful song about lonliness and the remdemptive power of
music("rock I with those drums"). Click on the below link to
download.... Tracklisting below....
